Frequently Asked Questions

Hotel

  • Is breakfast included with my room?

    Yes. All room bookings include breakfast.

  • What time are check-in and check-out?

    Check-in is from 3:00pm and check-out is by 10:30am. If you’d like to arrange an early check-in or late check-out, please contact us in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate you, subject to availability.

  • When do I pay the remaining balance for my stay?

    The remaining balance is payable on arrival or at departure.

  • Do I need to pay a deposit and is it refundable?

    Yes. A deposit is required to secure your booking.

    If you cancel more than 48 hours before arrival, your deposit will be fully refunded.

    Cancellations made within 48 hours of arrival will result in the loss of the full booking amount, including the deposit.

  • Do you have parking?

    We have a large car park for our guests to use. Please note – overnight parking is for residents only.

  • Do you welcome children?

    We welcome children and infants at the Sidings Hotel and Restaurant. We have a child-friendly menu for children under 12, but are delighted for them to choose dishes from the main menu, too.

    We have two rooms that are designed for families:

    Room 10 (Royal Room) – This room is suitable for two adults and 1 child under 18, with the additional option of a fold out bed for an additional child making this room a maximum capacity of 2 adult and 2 children.

    Room 12 (Gryffindor) – This room is suitable for two adults and 1 child up to the age of 4 years old.

  • Can children stay in a room on their own?

    Guests must be at least 18 years old to stay in a room without an adult. Children are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • Which rooms have the best railway views?

    Best direct track views: Rooms 9, 10 and 6.
    Side/partial views: Rooms 5, 7 and 8.

  • Which room has its own private decking?

    Room 6 – The Flying Scotsman has private decking. Take a look here: Room 6 – The Flying Scotsman.

  • Do you have any themed rooms?

    All of our hotel rooms are converted railway carriages. Our newest rooms also feature custom themes — see Room 11: The Ravenclaw and Room 12: The Gryffindor on our Accommodation page.

  • Is Wi-Fi available?

    Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, bar and restaurant.

  • Is the hotel accessible?

    We do our best to accommodate guests with accessibility needs. Due to our unique railway layout, some areas may have steps. Please contact us before booking to discuss your requirements.

Restaurant

  • I’m staying at the hotel — do I need to book a table?

    We prioritise tables for guests who are staying with us. So don’t worry about booking a table until you check in as we will have one reserved for you.

  • What are your opening times?

    Lunch
    Monday- Closed
    Tuesday-Saturday 12pm-2:30pm

    Dinner
    Monday-Saturday 5pm-9pm

    Sunday
    12pm-8pm

  • Do you cater for dietary requirements and allergies?

    Our dishes are freshly prepared so please let us know if you have any allergies and we will always do our best to cater for most dietary requirements.

    Whilst we follow best practice at all times, we do like to highlight that all dishes are produced in an environment where allergens are also prepared and cooked. We cannot guarantee that the environment will be completely allergen-free.

  • Can I dine in one of the carriages?

    Yes — you can book a table in either the Dining Carriage or our Conservatory. View the layout on our floor plan, or book online and select your preferred location.

  • Do you serve lunch?

    Yes — we have a dedicated lunch menu with lighter options and classics. See our Menus.

  • Do you serve Sunday roast?

    Yes — we serve Sunday roasts all day Sunday, 12pm–8pm. Check our current Menus.

  • How do group bookings work?

    Tables of 10 or more require a £10pp deposit and a pre order to be provided to the restaurant 3 days prior to your booking. All menus can be found on our website and we accept pre orders by phone or by emailing us at info@sidingshotel.co.uk.

  • Do you sell gift vouchers?

    When using a gift voucher please ensure you call or email us to make a booking. Please ensure you bring the gift voucher with you so that we can redeem it accordingly.

Bar

  • Can I just come in for a coffee?

    Yes — you’re welcome to pop in for coffee in the bar or conservatory during opening hours.

  • Do you serve beer and wine?

    Yes — we have a full bar with draught and bottled beer, a wide selection of wines and spirits, plus soft drinks.

  • Do you serve food in the bar?

    Yes — you can enjoy items from our lunch and evening menus in the bar area. It’s perfect for a relaxed meal or light bite without formal dining.

  • Can I sit outside with a drink?

    Absolutely — our outdoor terrace overlooks the railway line, making it a popular spot in summer for drinks, coffee or an evening glass of wine.

Events & Greek Nights

Pets

  • What is your policy on pets?

    Well behaved dogs are welcome in our bar area only and we ask that they are kept on a lead at all times. We do not allow dogs in our restaurant or hotel areas (with the exception of service dogs).

    Should your dog bark excessively or display aggressive behaviour, we will ask that you remove your dog from the premises.
